I prefer Crockett because she’s not as religious tbh. That and she is a criminal defense attorney who studied the law to protect people. I prefer my politicians not to be involved with any church in any official capacity if I can avoid it. That’s just my preference on politicians though, you do you

I don’t give a shit about their religion. I care about what they believe, and do. Religion can be part of it, but it isn’t necessarily.

I don’t practice a religion, and it’s not even my state. It’s just a refreshing take to hear, especially from Texas. Just heavily contrasts all the thinly veiled hate speech masquerading as religion.

As most conservatives are CINOs (Christians In the Name Only), this would be a big win for humanity.

I’ll worship God when you prove he is real and not a moment before.

I doubt you can, but I’m honestly rooting for you to do so. I’d love for magic and souls to be real.

I don’t think I could ever worship such a son of a bitch. Maybe acknowledge that it exists, but not more than that.

If a being of that power wants to be personally involved in my life and genuinely has a plan to help me succeed in life and in afterlife… and not to mention my many wrongs are forgiven?

        Bring it on…

Problem is God is dead and Christians do nothing but play Weekend At Bernie’s with his corpse.

GOP Lawmaker Asks God To Cleanse Government of Non-Believers at Christian Nationalist Event

It seems like more and more GOP politicians are speaking out against Trump.

Okay let’s just go look at the article:

Tennessee Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger, who asked for God to support Trump because he has a “servant’s heart” and get rid of everyone in politics who doesn’t share her faith

Oh, I guess that makes sense, too. /s

      a servant’s heart

I just… Can’t. Of all of the ways to describe Donald Trump…? What?

These people are living in an alternate reality and it’s absolutely terrifying.

Because he serves god. By doing his work here on earth. Mainly the old testament god who destroyed a bunch of shit in the Middle East and said a bunch of mean stuff to inspire draconian laws.

I hope every religious person comes together one day. and I mean all of them. Every single one of them of all religions. I mean every fuck wit who believes some bullshit. Get together and a dirty nuke goes off in the center of the meeting.

Nevertheless, by saying most of them don’t follow Christian values, you kind of imply that Christianity in and of itself is not to blame for their behavior. I submit to you that they are true Christians and Christian values are the reason.

At its core like most belief systems there is a basic decency. Some like the eastern religions strive toward peace and understanding. They do this because they practice what they teach. Whereas a great many christians just give lip service to the peace and understanding. You have those that put themselves beneath their deity and use the words as a guide and those that put themselves above their deity and use it as a shield for their actions. The ones ascendant in the US today are the latter. We know all those books and words are just men making plans. To those with less awareness the simple manipulations of it all are more than enough to allow for charity and tolerance but to those who know its all made and pretend to believe its just there to get what they want. They do not want peace. They do not want tolerance. They want power.

Again, I respectfully disagree. Peace and understanding are not at the core of the Christian religion, it’s merely a pretense.

The bible says nothing against slavery, it calls for the death of homosexuals, it condones genocide in the name of their deity. It’s a weak, diffuse collection of ancient myths and stories brimming with questionable morals that are incompatible with humanistic values.

Christians have always been cherry picking their morals from the bible according to what suited them best at the time. Every progress mankind has made during the past centuries towards enlightenment has been consistently opposed by the church and thus, by the people following what the church preached (just saying this because so many apologists claim only institutional religion is to blame). Still happens today - you will find most homophobic, racist and evil people are religious, while humanists are generally irreligious.

Claiming these wicked people are not the way they are because of their religion is failing to acknowledge the fundamental problem with religion as a whole - at its core lies a monumental intellectual dishonesty, because it’s all about accepting the claim of god’s existence without any evidence whatsoever. And people willing to accept unproven claims and who are able to lie to themselves in such a huge way are also very much able to tell themselves they’re just doing good while committing unspeakable crimes.

Nope. These people are true Christians. They follow their holy book to the best of their ability and they do follow the teachings of Christ.
