Maybe just make smaller games that don’t take 10 years to put out? That way any middling ones (like 16) just get drowned out by everything else.
Ah shit they heard me, they’re putting out 5 more mobile only gacha games
Young people are broke and you split a perfectly cromulent game into multiple full-price parts with filler and chadley
The original ff7 has great graphics mods available nowadays
There was a period of time before the second part of the remake came out when younger people were playing the original after playing the first remake and were posting their playthroughs on Youtube. It was really fun watching their reactions to everything past Midgar
I like how people are so openly annoyed at Chadley. It reminds me of Jar Jar. Now everyone want to see Darth Jar Jar.
These guys know how to evoke emotion. Both positive and negative. The fact that people feel so strongly and still talking about Chadley, i believe was by design. People forget he is a boy that is being tourtured and experimented on by Hojo.
Some people hate chadley for being effeminate and ND-coded
For me chadley and his automated checklist quests just epitomize tacked-on filler

Make something new?

No one will ever be making Sephiroth AMVs to Drowning Pool that you can spin over and over again for free. The cool cross overs where Sephiroth is some impossible boss are all done. You’ve sat on the same IP for too long, Sqaure. Which is funny, because this IP can change and evolve and you also squandered that.
Honestly this whole problem started when Square merged with Enix and went public, ceasing to produce anything worthwhile (with a few small exceptions) and milking everything they already had bone dry. Of course this was on the heels of some spectacularly bad decisions on Squaresoft’s part to begin with, but then they asked themselves “how can I make my bad decisions even worse?”, and here we are.
Never go corporate, kids. The house always wins. Only people fairly compensated for their labor make anything worthwhile.
I really enjoyed it but they

made it too much of a sequel/remake which caused people to think you need to have played the previous one to pay this one.
It’s the classic Square problem where they’re just way too up their own ass and keep making things way too convoluted and overcomplicated
