Playstation is absolutely not known for having the superior selection, especially the PS5. It has very few exclusives and many of them are bad

I remember the backlash to the PS3’s price but why the fuck was it that expensive
- It was basically a pilot for Cell processors, which weren’t especially cheap to produce until quite late in its lifecycle
- Blu-Ray diodes were not cheap, either, and the format was still competing with HD-DVD. A Blu-Ray player in 2006 cost more than a PS3
- The original PS3 models also had an Emotion Engine onboard for backward compatibility with PS2 games, which was later replaced with much cheaper software emulation.
I think they were also too confident about their status as monopoly but you know it better
