I just wrote off ice cream as something I’ll never enjoy again. Haven’t had it in like 2 years. This shit is fire

Please share what it was… There was this amazing “ice cream” that was sold a few years ago that was made basically from frozen bananas and dates. I think it was called Hakuna Banana? Unfortunately, the company stopped making it. :(

Haha I did the same thing when I first went vegan. That first summer I froze this terrible mash of dark chocolate, banana, and soy milk in a desperate attempt to replicate ice cream. It tasted good but was hard as a rock.

So Delicious was sort of a pioneer in the field but I think they’re kind of lagging behind in terms of quality nowadays. A lot of the major brands make plant based options now but grocers usually still have a pretty limited selection. Mix in style ice creams that are very sweet and have a lot of extra stuff in them seem to be easier to replicate than single plain flavors but anything that is oat or cashew based should taste pretty good. Coconut and almond milk products freeze too hard in my opinion.

Also nowadays you can get a half decent plant based version of just about anything if you look hard enough and you can afford it.

I couldn’t be arsed to buy one, feels like the thing I’d use for a week before it ends up never being used again.

For now I just blend up frozen berries with sweeten condensed milk and plop it in the freezer for ~6 hours

It is straight up better. Every once in a while this lemon flavored one goes.on sale.or I just spend money. It tastes like the non crust part of a lemon meringue pie! Next level shit

Most vegan ice cream I’ve tried is great (my go-to is Oatly) but for some reason Halo Top’s (which was my go-to before I went vegan) vegan flavors all taste like sawdust.

Yeah it’s come a long way since the rock hard plant milk ice that used to be the standard. “Dandies” (same brand that does vegan marshmallows) sells a soft serve mix that is super good; a few local places in [my lib city] have it ‘on tap’
