where are the revolutionaries? Are they at brunch?

This kind of shit from western libs and even ‘leftists’ is beginning to piss me off.

No, they’re not at brunch. They’re living in the most sophisticated surveillance police state in history, one that monitors their every move, in a country designed from the ground up to separate them from their community and keep them burntout and one mistake from being on the kill line.

The “But have you considered western leftists have it too good because burger?” type rhetoric needs to die. Those burgers are plastic, wafer thin, drug filled garbage that barely qualifies as food. A huge chunk of Americans are malnourished even if they’re well fed. The glitz and glamorous mask that capitalism sells is smoke and mirrors used to convince people it’s the ideology that makes a prosperous society. “Wow, South Korea has K-Pop, bet they don’t have that in evil North Korea where everyone is poor!” Leftists should know by now that it’s a lie. Instead of jumping to convenient conclusions out of frustration, we should be thinking of ways to work with this environment to facilitate revolutionary energy. Clearly we need to change our angle because whining about how bad at revolution the west is isn’t working

This culture of self hate and self loathing is getting old.

    • The glitz and glamorous mask

so many confuse the spectacle’s vibe of abundance and leisure with How Shit Is™. which is, of course, its intent.

to disclose… i still watch the shit out of movies and tv shows. media is my escape, but i try to be intentional about my consumption: i watch the slop and i know it’s slop and i tear it down inside. i don’t put on a algorithm curated stream. no suggestions. vicious blocking of history and ads. i watch the thing that popped into my head earlier and made me think, “dang, i gotta see that again” or whatever. i don’t just roll around in the infinite feed trying to be unbored.

sometimes the disconnect from the infinite feed feels like i am on another planet from most people, but only at the surface. not in the most important way. i see the anxiety, the nervous smile, the despondency. the feelings we all share in this moment of constant repression to depoliticize every sphere so we can all just get through another day. but where many others seem to feel isolated in their alienation and try to force out some pained effort to be positive “like everybody else”, to focus on some future treat/trip, and put on a brave face… i’m happy to casually admit we’re all hip deep in shit and ultimately no one is coming to our aid but us. that the wheels have come off this thing and we’re spinning out. not in a jokah, defeated way. more like a, "oh yeah, it’s a dumpster fire for sure. and when we’re all through being mesmerized by the flames of a dead future, it’ll be just us standing here with each other, working together to figure out what comes next.

      No, they’re not at brunch.

Not to mention, that they’re out here in PSL, DSA, trade unions, environmentalist orgs, on indigenous reservations, and in immigrant communities.

They’re not on YouTube making one video a year, they’re out in the world, actually doing shit. Natalie isn’t seeing them because she’s not looking for them

At least the opportunistic socdem is right on this one. The ghoulish shitlib, however, seems to be never right about anything, and just spouts reactionary bullshit non-stop.

How she was ever considered some sort of an actual leftist back in the day is beyond me.

He’s a British opportunist journalist who was instrumental in Corbyn-scare and then became totally genuinly pro-Palestine, after October 7. To his credit he’s been mostly fine lately, at least on the surface, but he’s just not to be trusted.

I think this is a little unfair on Owen Jones tbh. His criticisms of Corbyn were made in good faith imo — he just has soppy electoralist politics. And he’s always been pretty good on international stuff, including Palestine. He’s basically Hassan levels of imperfection

In which Contrapoints declares that there’s no revolution if it’s not televised.

Also, it’s not important, but it’s only a very small minority of a small minority who say voting is bad rather than that you should vote third party. She is seriously devoted to projecting her incoherent nyanarchist phase on the entire radical left (Tabby performs this strawman in Nat’s voting video like it’s an argument anyone cares about).

She’s so funny, pretending that none of this would have happened under a Democrat. Lol. Lmao really.

God I don’t like Owen but I’m sort of insulted on his behalf that he gets placed on the same level as her in that “2 libs” insult.

Man’s an opportunist weird trot electoralist but fucking hell he’s sooooooo much better than that piece of shit is. Anyway he should recognise this behaviour very well, she’s further right than the Labour party right.

Also she’s just mad that her good friend Hilary didn’t get to do what Trump is doing:

He’s gay so that’s sort of to be expected.

His parents were pretty well known trots, Rob Jones was active in Militant, the trot wing of Labour that took over Liverpool back in the day.

I think being a trot red diaper baby is his least objectionable trait. Like you can’t help having trot parents. Spending a year scolding people from his perch as a liberal zionist after the Gaza genocide campaign began is much worse (Even if he, as far as I know, came around on that)

No? He holds Corbyn’s positions more or less. His phrasing around Israel has been annoyingly soft for decades but so has everyone’s. He’s a very typical euro demsoc trot

I think after the initial claim he settled on a good tsar bad boyar shtick on the antisemitism thing where Corbyn was the only non antisemite on the labour left, if that redeems him to you

Owen Jones was ALSO one of the “Corbyn is an antisemite” guys iirc

Also not true. Prior to Oct 7th he was one of the “we have to soften on israel” kinds of guys though, but he did call it an occupation even back then.

He absolutely was one of the “The labour left is antisemitic” guys though, he was still writing about how the labour left were antisemites into the 2020s. He was doing speeches written by the people behind the organised antisemitism smear while it was going on.

“the Democrats would not be powerless if they had been voted into power”

They are not powerless now, you absolute joke of a human! And they certainly weren’t powerless during the Biden administration, at which time they did precisely dick all for their voters. Fucking infuriating dipshit.

It’s all “but what about meeeeeeee. my transition and my youtube career were going so well why did you have to mess that up for meeeeeee.” and the whole time her transition and youtube career seem to be going just fine it’s just that now the news makes her feel bad. it’s a real shame because she’s not without talent. if nothing else she can pull together a genuinely striking aesthetic for her videos.

I wonder how she will feel when that part of the system stops seeing playing towards the LGBT+ profitable and return back to gender based discriminations.

I don’t believe she deserves our sympathy when that happens.
