Couple’s therapy could work.
I’ve wiped one
Baaaaaaaa
If you want a more modern software with the Winamp feel, the Audacious player supports Winamp skins.
Qmmp as well
Vlc also has some ports and lookalikes of winamp skins
How about Sonique skins?
Yaay team Sonique 👋
I’d totally rock a real physical winamp as a mp3 player.
Yeah this looks dope.
Hell yeah, just give it Bluetooth, a headphone jack, and USB-C, for data transfer and loading.
Just gave me an idea for a 3D-printed media player. Thx :)
I still kick on the HTML5 port Webamp every now and then. It’s a relic of a time when we tried to make apps look like their equivalent home electronics.
That… Is a lot of skins…
Tagline of my future taxidermy shop.
Not as good as
Joe’s Taxidermy - you snuff 'em we stuff 'em
True…; hard to argue with that.
Nope. Chuck Testa.
Nope! Chuck Testa.
The bar to create a new one was so low that anyone could do it. I think that contributed to people’s affinity to it.
I will keep using it as long as it keeps whipping the llama’s ass.
This is the way.
I have spoken.

I hear tell that it really whips the llama’s ass.
I always preferred NAD as an mp3 player. I loved the see through hole in the default skin.

Plus the dev would get stoned out of his gourd on mushrooms and it helped him create a very efficient mp3 decoder. It always has a lower CPU usage than anything else out there, and imo sounded crisper.
Foobar2000 has been working on Linux compatibility, mostly using Wine. At least if you’re after Milkdrop visualization compatibility.
Working on? I run it on my Linux box. I saved the last installer before it got sold off a million years ago. Love it still.
Same, actually. I don’t remember much of the deal with it but it’s one of many installers in the repository from the Before Times.
At some point, though I recall they were trying to have a formal release that wasn’t just the windows version on wine.
Linux native? Can you upload the installer, or link to a site where I can find it? I miss foobar
I absolutely love Foobar2000, and one of the biggest reasons is the plugins that allow it to play lots of different chiptune formats. Also I love that its UI is practical and doesn’t get in my way.
Came in here to make a llama ass whipping post but I can see I was beaten after .000001 seconds of the post being up :(
I still use Winamp on my computer. Tho I wish I could hook it up to stream from my Spotify account so I had more music without using my entire ssd.
I keep thinking about taking an old phone, replacing the battery (because they were easy to do) and turning it into an mp3 player. Only problem is I want a few buttons.
The planes are gone from the skies. The soldiers are no longer looking for you…
You don’t need to live like this anymore.
It supports the old skins, and the portable install is neat on a usb stick.
meh, closed-source Windows-only software, gross
Try Strawberry instead.
Theres also audacious, it runs on Linux and supports winamp skins.
It does? I’ve never seen that. Been using it forever and never thought to look at skin options
How do you use Winamp skins in Strawberry?
Moc all the way on Linux; teamed up with radion and castero you’re good to go for anything.
Wacup’s nice if you’re wanting old winamp skins to work on the forced windows ecosystem of the workplace ;)
I miss those days
I was until I switched to Linux last year. But I had issues getting Winamp to run properly via wine, and none of the native Linux successors I found handled Winamp skins the way I wanted them to, so sadly I was forced to find a different music player.
While it doesn’t support skins, I don’t think, Fooyin has a similar feel to Winamp that I was accustomed too, it was my main music player before switching to Linux.
Audacious only handles WinAmp 2.x skins. I believe the newer versions of WinAmp changed something, or at least added some skinnable windows.
