wikipedia endorces US state media as “reliable”, while excluding leftist and anti-imperialist sources, and is known to often push right-wing or outright nazi narratives

True, but when it comes to super straightforward facts Wikipedia is pretty accurate, admins are good at taking down BLATANT misinformation.

If the claim is something like “Abraham Lincoln was born in 1809” then Wikipedia is a perfectly fine source.

we seem to have wildly different definitions of “blatant misinformation”.

imho, shit like calling lithuanian nazi-collaborators “anti-soviet partisans”, while slandering anti-fascism as “collaborationism with the soviet union” qualifies for the description quite well.

I mean “blatant misinformation” as in like objective facts. “Abraham Lincoln was born in 1809” is a fact that really can’t be denied via semantics or philosophy. The correct way to describe partisan factions in WWII is a more subjective matter, even if certain framings are clearly dishonest.

you also have many cases of nazi war crimes being falsly attributed to the soviets, like the katyn massacre, despite

              • the area having been occupied by the nazis at the time of the crime

              • german brass being found at the site

              • the claim originating from a nazi officer and being spread by literally joseph fucking goebbels

there are numerous further instances of reality being straight up inverted, victim and perpatrator switched, or details quite literally invented out of thin air, whenever it suits an anti-communist or pro-imperialist narrative.

wikipedia’s methodology is oftentimes no better than the “black book”.

This literally happened with my dad. I said Marx was born in Germany and he was like “No he was born in Russia.”

“???, no he was born in Germany.”

“But he established the Soviet Union after the whole October Revolution.”

“…Dad you’re thinking of Vladimir Lenin!”

“Oh. Well of course you’d know that, you’re a commie!”

I always forget that white people can’t read cyrillic script. Like at all.

IT SAYS FUCKING LENIN ON THE FUCKING POSTER.

Side note I hate it when they replace latin letters with similar looking cyrillic ones and it make something read like unpronouncable gibberish when you read the letters properly.

There is something interesting about demonization of marx in the west, he is a philosopher and political theorist.

I don’t think people assign deaths in bengal to adam smith grave or congo to kant’s one. not so much nazism to nietzsche as well. kinda curious how people’s bs meter doesn’t go off on this

That’s ridiculous. Marx didn’t start the USSR, he seized power half a year later while everyone else was out fighting the monarchists.

    They’re thinking of Engals.

NGL i can never imagine father Marx as a leader of a country he is good as he is an outstanding and the most important socialist reolutionary thinker and theorist thats where lenin comes in play. Lenin is more of the politician.

lol Marx would have defenitely said slurs in the supreme soviet. Lmao trotsky would have been called worst stuff than what he called lassale. Our dear poor old Marx we love you you just need meditation from time to time.

Marx was directly involved in organising the first international as an activist. His point specifically was to not just be a thinker and theorist.

        Yeah you are right.

But it’s not the same as lenin’s responsabilities and positions though Marx didn’t have to coordinate with an internaly exiled stalin on forged documents or clandestine meetings and financing of the RSDP (b) under the watch of the tsarist Okhrana. Also i’m not sure Marx and Engels would have been planning heists and illegal weapons shipment to the caucasus like stalin did. There is also a very big difference between the first international and the bolsheviks organization. that’s why we have Marxism-Leninism Lukacs said in his book i forgot the title it was something about RealPolitik that its was lenin had the greatest tangible and coherent contributions to marxism.

Im not undermining marx he is the most important person here im just saying that libs imagining marx as some wannabe leader is impossible i dont think the dude had or ever wanted to be put in a position lenin, stalin or rest of the Central committee of the bolsheviks were in the 1910s.

I just think its totaly different. you can say its also true for engels. August Bebel had everything to him from the SPD inspired by Marx and Engels and their teachings and experiences but I dont think Engels who lived during the first era of the SPD and praised it alot could be in the place of Bebel.

im ALSO DUM DUM AND HAVE TRASHY TAKES FIGHT ME

It really is sad to see these sorts of people think they are being intellectual when they scream “SAUCE? SAUCE? SAUCE?!” like this. They really are so lacking in any ability to think critically that they think flatly refusing to consider a point of view other than their own, but LOUDER is somehow the height of intelligence.
