BBC, London - We haven’t done much reporting on this so that must mean the mendacious asiatics have done even less. Probably for sneaky, asiatic reasons. Source: BBC

Lmao all the sources I’ve seen analyzing the cause of the disaster were Chinese, without explicitly seeking those out, and on the local eu-cool news they cite casualty numbers given by the Chinese government catgirl-huh

Its wild. You can go on chinese language news media from China and see them posting about it with video and images

Then bbc et al take those images and video, repost them and say China is censoring the media

    Fucking insane

Weird cuz I first heard about this on rednote. I feel like there’s a concerted effort on the part of Western governments and media outlets to portray China in a negative light. Has anyone else noticed this?

Of course there is. There is nothing America loves more than a natural disaster or building collapse in China, except of course for a militant insurgency or a real or fake massacre of civilians.

That’s why it’s weird that the notes are contradicting it, but that’s in large part because they are based on user input.

I’m going to repost the comment I posted in the News Mega because for whatever reason seeing this tripped a fuse in my neural network:

YouTube launched in 2005, Twitter launched in 2006.

It’s been 20 years since the start of so-called New Media and these ghouls are still trying to control the narrative.

Their only answer is to ban Tik Tok rather than adapt.

When the boomers die off and no one watches the news anymore, it will be a blessed sight to see these places go down.

People have discussed how they used to have hope in the future of the internet, the “information superhighway” and how it would smash chuds into irrelevancy as the truth became widely accessible to everyone. Obviously 2012-2016-now was a bit of a setback in that as we saw online movements like gamergate and qanon, and even online media like JRE drive a right wing surge that brought Trump to power.

I dont think optimism is a very popular viewpoint on here, but I think it’s all jumped the shark. Fascism actually looks pretty fucking ugly on screen, even if you like the idea of it. We know they are all about aesthetics, but without a centralized media apparatus they have pretty much nothing to run with. Anytime they press lies or spin the truth, it just reduces their trustworthiness.

It must be so easy to be a western “China expert”

Step 1: Twist something the Chinese government does that is perfectly normal or even a good thing, and just claim it is actually a bad thing.

Step 2: If what they are doing is completely impossible to twist into a bad thing, just pretend they aren’t doing it, lie about them and say they’re doing something else evil and horrible instead.

Did you know? Although the BBC in the UK is regulated by Ofcom (for all the good that does), the BBC World Service is not under its jurisdiction and therefore does not answer to any regulatory body at all. There is no one trying to keep them honest even on paper, they are fully allowed to lie as much as they want about anything without being held to account and, as we can see here, they do.

Australian broadcasting corp was pushing the same line. I haven’t looked into it but would be deeply shocked if it was true - CCTV was screening stories on natural disasters etc when I was in china ~15 years ago…
