The countries of the world would have wanted to make laws preventing such a terrible event like this from ever happening again, but sadly this is not possible since your horrific actions just now have shattered every form of order this world once had, making concepts such as laws irrelevant. If you ever had them, your children would be preemptively killed to protect this universe from the possibility of anyone in your bloodline being even half as bad as you are, except you will never be able to have children, because not a single human being will ever want to come within a hundred mile radius of you and anything you have ever touched. You are a colossal disappointment not only to your parents, but to your ancestors and entire bloodline. The disgusting mistake that you have just made is so incredibly terrible that everyone who would ever be to hear about it would spontaneously feel an indescribable mixture of immense anger, fear and anxiety that emotionally and physically they would never truly be the same ever again. CNN did provide 24 hour news, but there had been all news radio stations for year before it came along.

C-SPAN got hacked by Newt Gingrich. Newt would go into the chamber when no one was there and make speeches that all his colleagues ignored. But because he was on TV people at home paid attention to him.

Those 800lbs criminals I saw on the 24h news shows. I never thought they’d be a threat but now I’m afraid of the immigrants and transgender folk because one of them could be them 800lbs criminal type coming to eat my dogs and cats!

This post is about the 24 hour panic machine designed to make you hate your neighbors which was an invention of Fox News, capitalizing on the fearful post-911 political environment.

There’s more stuff they could report on, but it either doesn’t advance their ideological agenda or doesn’t interest their audience and doesn’t get them clicks.

What ive always found crazy about the 24 hour news cycle is how little information is in there.

For a while I watched msnbc all day, just to have something on in the background.

In a day they would cover maybe 6 stories, just over and over and over. Here’s some new talking head to give their take, it’s effectively identical to the take the last 5 talking heads gave.

I stopped watching it because I realized that in a given day I was maybe getting about 20 minutes of information on repeat.

The channels have time, they could give complex and nuanced discussions around the 6 interesting things that happened that day, they could expand their coverage to the other 100 or 1000 interesting things that happened. But everyday they find the 6 stories that will lead to the most eyeballs watching the most ads and hammer them.

Because the Internet wouldn’t have done that eventually anyway.

I miss when news sources were just the paper and nightly local news.

I wonder how hard it would be to sell people on a news site subscription that just updates once a day with actual journalism instead of click-bait headlines to drive ad revenue and AI articles.

Unfortunately, state media can be as well.

My country’s national broadcaster is still fairly OK, there doesn’t seem to be any real pressure to censor specific topics or anything. The BBC on the other hand, has been losing its credibility hard in recent years with all their anti-palestine shit.

And now imagine if the US had a prominent national broadcaster. Like NPR does exist, but what if it was something that a majority of Americans watched on TV. Now imagine what would happen to it under someone like Trump.

I still blame MTV for starting the reality TV trend.

Unfortunately they’ve been making it a bit worse deliberately, by stretching out irrelevant topics and adding street interviews with people that have nothing to say :/
