️South Korea and US to hold high-level talks, potentially over military deployment to Hormuz

    Expand

South Korea and the US are set to hold high-level defense talks this week as Seoul considers deploying military forces to the Strait of Hormuz amid pressure from Washington to join efforts to secure the strategic waterway, South Korean news agency Yonhap reported.

The Korea-US Integrated Defense Dialogue (KIDD), held twice a year, will take place in the southeastern port city of Busan from Wednesday to Friday, according to South Korea’s Defense Ministry. The talks are expected to cover Seoul’s restoration of wartime operational control, the two countries’ defense posture, and shipbuilding cooperation.

While the two sides have not confirmed whether a Hormuz deployment will be formally discussed, Yonhap reports that the possibility is expected to be among the issues raised as Washington pressures Seoul to contribute military forces to securing the waterway amid the ongoing US-Israeli war on Iran.

Interesting. My interpretation would be that the US empire wants to shift the burden of war to it’s vassals and send South Korea to send troops to Hormuz and their troops to bleed and them to pay the cost. And South Korea said “no”. And that is why the “strain” about stopped military intelligence.

OP story basically means US is stretched thin and needs to redeploy.

The US thinks they can continue to bluster their way out of their decline. In the case of the EU leaders that is still working though.

I suspect one strategic goal of the US with Ukraine was to create a strategic split between EU and Russia. Isolating Russia, but also isolating Europe. It’s almost like a coup in Europe. Russia found new friends elsewhere and are done with Europe now.

The US is also trying to get the Egyptians to send troops to Yemen which is… I mean they helped install him in a coup and he’s balking lol. The military dictatorship is having a vote in parliament about it haha.

The mental dysfunction of our leaders in the EU and the US is just breathtaking. As is the propaganda which is really the superpower of the US. But how it really is going to shake out we’ll see when the economic crisis finally arrives.
