IMO: Sleepy Joe looked about as good as he could up there. His brain left his body a couple of times but nothing that couldn’t be papered over, no McConnell freezes etc.

Overall the speech was the same liberal pablum we’ve been receiving for the last 20 years. He cited Reagan positively lol.

Biggest flop imo was he went hard right on the border, at one point calling for the president to have the ability to shut the border down if the number of migrants gets too large. At one point he talked about some girl who was killed by “an illegal.” Very bad look overall.

He also called for a two state solution which I guess has been the official policy or whatever for a while now. They’re going to build a temporary pier to land aid in Gaza. Time will tell how that goes. It will take a few weeks to build, many will starve by then, and there still need to be roads etc for aid to actually reach people.

Other topics covered that I can remember is a bunch of Lucy football shit; banning assault rifles and high capacity magazines, lowering prescription drug prices, protecting roe, raising the minimum wage and increasing taxes on the wealthy and corporations— you know, all the type of shit the dems could have done while in full control of the government but didn’t because manchin or the parliamentarian or whatever the fuck.

At any rate I think what he needed was to go out there and talk for an hour without having his brain leak out of his ears. Mission accomplished.

Whats your take?

Something that I’m learning is that Biden refuses to the say the word “abortion”. During the speech, he says “Many in this chamber are promising to take away reproductive freedom” and “those who overturned roe v wade had no clue about the power of women but they found out when reproductive freedom was on the ballot, we won in 2022 and we’ll win again in 2024”. He never says the word abortion. He only uses euphemism.

How can people believe that Joe Biden will protect access to abortion when he won’t even say the word?

No I think it’s because Biden opposes abortion because of his religious beliefs. He won’t say the word because of his Catholicism.

Biden had the opportunity to protect roe v wade during the 8 years that he was vice president, when Obama promised to codify roe v wade. He had the opportunity to codify roe v wade during the first half of his presidency when it was leaked that it was going to be overturned.

He said earlier this week that he was opposed to the right to choice. He’s lying when he says he’s going to re-institute roe v wade.

And I doubt that he’s using “tested language” considering the other words he said today.

His big example case for reproductive freedom was a lady who got banned from doing more IVF. The Dems are trying to triangulate themselves into the pro-birth side.

I agree with you that they are trying to triangulate into the pro-birth side. He brought 2 women as examples. Latorya Beasley was the lady who got banned from IVF in Alabama as you mentioned. Biden also mentioned Kate Cox there, the woman who was banned from having an abortion in Texas after learning that the fetus she was carrying would have a fatal birth defect. Kate Cox was trying to have a third child.

I don’t know what drug concoction they pumped him full of before hand but he was much more ummm … awake and alert than I had anticipated. Ahead of time I half expected him to just drop dead on stage half way through.

I find it hilarious that he can keep making these speeches full of shit that he’s had ample time to accomplish already but always finds a reason or excuse not to. And the libs just lap it up. So disappointing.

Biden is such a fucking worm. In the speech he said that Hamas murdered 1200 innocent Israelis, of course also repeating unsubstantiated SA claims, and we all know about Israel’s bombing of the festival, but even on its face this is flat-out wrong, as Israel itself in its memorial lists has shown a decent sum were active IDF members. The two-state “solution” would be progress, but it is clearly only rhetoric, as shown by the U.S.'s repeated vote at the UN against the “Peaceful settlement of the question of Palestine,” where nearly every other country has voted in favor. When Biden talked about how sad he was about the Palestinian civilians killed in Gaza I almost got a burst aneurysm, and my god who the fuck is buying this “humanitarian aid” bullshit? Apparently many people as he got a lot of cheers for that.

At the end of the day it’s all vapid nonsense; I loved that he in the same breath condemned “China’s unfair economic practices” (funny coming from the U.S. obviously) and assured Americans that they would keep their “advanced technology” from being used in China. My favorite part was actually the GOP response, it’s as if they were paid off to make Biden look competent and sane. Such obvious emotional manipulation, complaints about drug cartels as a proof of why the border must be shut down (despite these cartels only existing because of U.S. government support), deranged “See See Pee propaganda brainwashing might conquer America” (if only) fantasies, and a brainrotted Hitlerite historical account of the U.S.

Best GOP Quote: “Never forget, we’re steeped in the blood of patriots who overthrew the most powerful empire in the world [??]. We walk in the footsteps of pioneers who tamed the wild. We now carry forward the same flame of freedom as the liberators of an oppressed Europe. We draw courage from those who bent the moral arc of the universe. And when we gaze upon the heavens, never forget that our DNA contains the same ingenuity that put man on the Moon.”

Best Biden Quote: “For years, all I’ve heard from my Republican friends and so many others is China’s on the rise and America is falling behind. They’ve got it backward. America is rising. We have the best economy in the world.”

I am convinced that Biden has a free pass on cracking down brown immigration now that the destruction of Europe has begun. This policy change would accommodate an influx of white European immigrants over the coming 1-2 decades as both skilled and unskilled European labor look for opportunities overseas as their own countries descend into fascism.

The Congressional Budget Office estimates that:

The labor force in 2033 is larger by 5.2 million people, mostly because of higher net immigration. As a result of those changes in the labor force, we estimate that, from 2023 to 2034, GDP will be greater by about $7 trillion and revenues will be greater by about $1 trillion than they would have been otherwise. We are continuing to assess the implications of immigration for revenues and spending.

This is likely an underestimation as the true scale of the destruction of European economy has not even reached public consciousness yet. This could compound when the effects of brain drain began to be felt in Europe, triggering an even bigger wave of emigration. Where are they going to end up? Of course, most of them will end up in the US.

Clearly, a lot of immigrant labor will be needed to sustain the US empire’s GDP, but this time, the immigrants will be white Europeans fleeing their deindustrialized countries, willing to work for lower pay and competing with domestic American workers. The US has no need to rely on brown immigrants from Latin America any longer.

Biden has achieved in 3 years what the Republicans have failed to accomplish in decades.

I doubt those same Europeans are going to be holding up the agricultural sector the same way brown immigrants from Latin America will. The white Europeans will be competing with Indian and Chinese immigrants for the same fields. Very few of them will be picking grapes for pennies.

Europe is going to have to go through a lot more for their citizens to be as desperate as ours to do the work our diaspora takes on.

I skimmed a transcript of the speech becuase fuck watching all that nonsense. But its pretty fucking wild that he lead off with an appeal for more Ukraine war funding when so many in the country are suffering. Clearly shows just how out of touch he and his administration are.

Then goes into supporting NATO as if Trump is really serious about leaving NATO, lmao.

Makes an empty promise to bring back Roe v Wade.

Aaaand. I’m too fucking tired, so I stopped right around there. But I’m not shocked he’s also further right on immigration either. Its pretty fucked that he picked up on that story of the migrant that killed a college girl. Literally indistinguishable from a Republican.

I also don’t really care what he has to say about Gaza at this point unless he says he’s pulling material support for Israel and demands they leave Gaza. Two state solution means fuck all if you’re going to let Israel stamp out Gaza.

Good point! The Ukraine thing was a trip. I meant to mention that in the OP but forgot. First three points were Ukraine, Putin, January 6th. I’d be surprised if most folks stuck around after that

That’s because Ukraine is the feel-good forever war that liberals care about…however, most Americans have completely moved on as it is outside of the 3 month window that you can get people to care about shit. Outside of reddit, I don’t think many liberals care anymore, but I guess the dems are trying to reignite that fire?

Also, it plays into the “Putin bad” and “Trump is a Putin puppet” narrative that just gets screeched into oblivion. I believe that the dems have a plan, for when Biden eats shit in the election, to blame Russia, again, for 4 years so that they can retake the presidency in 2028 (while fundraising nonstop for the entire time).

When he was bloviating about the 60’s and civil rights movements and such, I swear to god he made an emotional plea about what happened to “Bobby Cunningham.” The name doesn’t ring a bell, nothing comes up on DuckDuckGo, did I mishear it? Or did his atrophied brain screw up saying Bobby Kennedy?
