We should adopt this idea for the US and other colonialist projects and recognize any former government remnants when possible like tribal governments for the 50 states, the DPRK for the US puppet South Korea, etc. as the legitimate government of the entire territory

There never is. There is objectively better governments, though. China has a higher protein rate consumption per capita, lower homelessness, higher home-ownership rate and generally a higher standard of life and approval rating for their government. From what I seen of local governance, generally more democratic under a “one-party system” than electing which real-estate crony is going to run your small town next cycle.
