I think this is one of those Greek and Latin special combos, cause homo just means same in old ass Greek and hetero means different in old ass Greek.
Words that blend elements from multiple languages are apparently called “macaronics”, though I’ve also heard them called “chimera words”.
Edit: They’re apparently called “hybridisms” and “macaronics” are some sort of more specific type of this
ayyyy dey put macaron’ in da friggin’ languages
A.E. Housman, or maybe just the version of him in a Tom Stoppard play, rejected the label “homosexual” because he considered the bastardized Greek-Latin hybrid an insult to language.
“Homo sexualis” non est “homosexualis”
Heterosexual then would be a human with mixed genders?holy shit thats stupidGonna blame this one on being sick
I chuckled
In Kim Stanley Robinson’s science fiction novel 2312, due to the proliferation of advanced transsexual healthcare technology, the word “bisexual” refers to humans born with both female and male primary sexual characteristics.
I’ve seen this used in historical texts before the definitions were solidified. (E.g. to describe intersex people.)
So you’re telling me bisexuals are reactionary (that’s really interesting)
Fellas, is it gay to be fellas?
Excellent misinterpreting 👍
There are two genders. Beard and bottom.
