it feels inconsistent and I don’t know how to defend the fact that I’m against the death penalty, but at the same time I have a firm conviction that if you own slaves, then you should die

no exceptions, no bullshit, owning slaves equals death and that’s it

The death penalty ™️ is a power given to the legal system. Which should be opposed. Some times people just need to go though. That is different

I feel similarly about being a prison abolitionist. I don’t think prison should exist, but a part of me is happy they are there…

Prisons should be rehabilitation centers in practice, not these crimes against humanity in the US. However there is no rehabilitating the couple in the OP wall

Sure but it’s probably more productive to sentence them to a lifetime of forced labor.

Death is an escape. IMO if you’re guilty of a heinous crime, you should live a long life in solitary where you can reflect on what you did.

They adopted 5 black children, called them derogatory names, kept them as slaves in horribly inhumane conditions jfc

Good parents struggle to adopt a single child and these monsters adopted 5.

      Five words: The good-ol’-boy system.

Everyone is willing to go around the rules as long as you’re white and an asshole.

    CPS: “Sure do!”

They adopted five kids. I’m not sure of the details but I’m pretty sure the charges were multiplied for slavery, child abuse, child endangerment, etc.

If you’re talking about the episode Three Slaps, that was actually based on a real event. (Cw suicide, abuse)

Toxicology results showed that Jennifer’s blood alcohol content was over the legal limit at the time of the crash,[11][35] and that both Sarah and two of the children had diphenhydramine in their systems.[35] Sarah had made Google searches before the crash, inquiring about the lethality of Benadryl and the nature of death by drowning.[34] Her searches also included “No-kill shelters for dogs”; the family’s two dogs were found inside the Hart family home.[41] The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Department officially closed the case and released declassified records in 2019.[42]

Holy shit, they killed the kids and spared the dogs. They cared more about the dogs. Absolutely satanic.

“We were once a family” is a good book about that case. It’s not true crime slop, it digs into the systemic issues and racism of the foster care system and how it allows stuff like that to happen.
