Congressional Democratic leaders are asking ICE to agree to reforms, promising to vote for $11 billion in funding for the agency if it does so. ICE has every reason to concede to the demands — then ignore them once the funding bill passes.

spending bills for 2026 — Pentagon ($839 billion); Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education ($195 billion)

One of those should be receiving wayy more money than the other, and it’s backwards

Many of us are trying but so many are comfortable with the privileges they have by keeping the status quo. They’ll talk one thing and support the opposite. The types that will support the oppressed in a movie then vote for the oppressor in real life.

This is a Republican talking point! Stop saying it!

Yes, Dems are shit. But the alternative is WORSE! So stop saying Dems are bad. We can’t change them. We can only elect more of them and hope they change themselves.

        hope they change themselves.

The only thing Democrats have changed in the last 40 years is becoming more right wing. Democrats of today would have been to the far right of 1980s Reagan. Those same Democrats have enabled Republicans in their march to the right, so electing more of what got us into this mess is never the answer.

It’s not a republican talking point, it’s a literally “everyone on earth watching your limp dicked government opposition enable the fascists” point. Instead of telling people how to think you should do something about your shitty government instead of “hopes and prayers”.

It starts locally. Show up for local elections. Show up for state elections. Don’t let these people make it to the federal level.

And when they do make it to the federal level, remember that they want us dead and aren’t even remotely close to being on our side.

Fuck that noise. I’m visiting D.C. from the PNW, I am most definitely meeting with my elected representatives and demanding a moment of FaceTime. I will be traveling a very long way and by golly, you bet yer sweet bippy I will have a thing or two to carry on about. This is democracy in action. That is my plan, I’ve made arrangements. Will get back to you all as soon as this happens. I travel there in 60 days.

The Democrats need entirely new leadership if they ever want to be taken seriously as a party again. This is just a disgrace…

Hakeem Jeffries is up for reelection this November. Currently, he has only one June 23 primary challenger, Vance Bostic. This honestly looks like Jeffries will win in a landslide.

Schumer will continue to mutter his goddam inanities for years, as he isn’t up for reelection until November 2028.

There’s certainly a few people that would hope a bullet helps expedite that election if they vote to hand over ICE funding just like the previous shutdown.

Here’s what I want Republicans and Democrats to explain - make it make sense how ICE needs all this funding. How did they possibly get by before?

Neoliberals only have a problem with authoritarianism when they’re not in control.

They don’t want to destroy the ring like Gandalf, they want to hide in a hole like Smeagol until they learn to use it.
