I personally have them open because maybe I have a google search for a movie or anime I want to remember, but I’ve now switched that habit to noting down the name of the movie in my phone’s note; it’s helped me cut down on the tabs.

I also have tabs for manga currently open, but I’m going to start a new notes page in my phone for manga.

I also HAD pages open for Stellaris videos, but they’re like two hours old so the content is already outdated and the game plays entirely differently now so I closed them.

I also have pages open for directors whose comedic movies or shows I’m curious to look up.

I also have pages open that talk about some rogue-like games so I can see if there’s any among them I want (the pages are maybe a year old now and I still haven’t gotten around to it).

There’s also one tab that mentions several game dev journal videos available for people to watch.

I keep trying to find ways to cut down on my tabs but I still have so many open. What’s on your tabs?

Huh…I actually thought I had it pretty bad; I had at one point almost 100 tabs, but then also on another PC of mine that I share with a sibling, I ALSO have lots of tabs open (we regularly look up movies and anime, but we’ve begun to noting them down instead, especially as sometimes youtube pages just ‘die’ and the movie we wanted to remember for later gets lost in the ether).

on my second monitor i keep a waterfox window with a tab for lo-fi hip-hop and a tab for a loop of rain ambience, i listen to both at once while i read
during gdq i’ll have a twitch tab open with the stream on

on my main monitor i pop a waterfox window when i need one, then close it when i’m done
for example i currently have 2 grad tabs open and a tumblr tab, all three will die within the hour

      gdq

Yoooooo, you mean the game developers thing? I don’t know much about it but I’ve seen GDQ videos of famous developers telling really cool stories about the games they developed. I love those videos!

all three will die within the hour

I try to make sure I don’t keep opening new tabs all the time, and I’m trying to finish up whatever I open up so I can close it rather than add it to my gigantic list (or gigantic relatively speaking; some folks here have some really large amount of tabs up)

On my phone I have so many webnovels open the tab count shows ∞.

On my computer, I have one window with a shitload of 4anime.gg tabs and one window with a bunch of game wiki pages and hexbear. I am sitting at 6 of my 32 gigs of ram used with my browser, torrent client, and a few other utilities running.

I’m not sure how much of my ram firefox uses, but every now and then I have to restart it because it suddenly starts lagging like mad and my task manager says it’s occupying tons of ram.

well theres my fanfiction browser with infinity tabs, i feel like that needs no explanation.

my regular browser has a forum, another forum, a secret third forum, a couple github pages that i forgot to close, a blog about medieval gardening that i meant to read but didn’t, instructions for making rice wine that ill get around to following eventually, parseword, the web version of a book about clojure, and god only knows whats hanging out in the inactive tab pile. theres only 23 tabs though so… ¯\(ツ)

Me: Very boring stuff like movies, anime and maybe a Hasan video

You: (Imagine I put an emoji of planet earth; I can’t find one (there’s one of earth with a hammer and sickle over it but I feel that doesn’t convey the same message))

You sound like you got a lot of hobbies you enjoy either practicing or reading about; I spend most of my time just basically watching youtube vids or netflix (I used to have a lot more hobbies about five or six years ago, then I kind of got bored of everything and just became a bit reclusive)

ahaha im actually incredibly boring and just have adhd lol. aside from the forums (which are 90% of my social interaction tbh) everything else is probably going to wind up getting closed without me actually going anywhere with it.

nothing wrong with watching yt and netflix! tbh thats basically all i did from 2020 till like. mid-last year. ive only really started getting back into hobby type stuff in the last 6 months or so, and its still incredibly hit-or-miss.

what’s something you watched lately that you liked?

my main browser has no open tabs (it’s Mullvad Browser); one browser has hexbear open and that’s it; one browser has around 20 tabs mostly related to uni stuff

I used to be much worse in this regard but switching to Mullvad really helped

When I’m done with one tab, I move on to the next and clear it out as I go. Rarely do I have an open tab that hasn’t been active in the last ~5 min.

My bookmark toolbar, on the other hand…

I don’t even know why I’m keeping mine open; some of them may be possibly a year old by this point and you’d think I’d just give up on them

I need to get around to closing them up and trying to go back to only have one or two open at a time as well

face the wall, you bring shame to your whole family

i only have tabs open that i’m actively using. Currently 1 for hexbear, 1 for the gam TR-49 which I have running, and 1 for WPS because I wanted to find a way to get my printer online without having to constantly go back and type the password using 2 buttons which takes for goddamned ever and only works sometimes.

I have no idea how some of you folks manage it; don’t you ever open a youtube video, think to yourself ‘I’m not in the mood RIGHT NOW, but maybe later?’

I also recall when I was working on my novel I had like 10-15 pages open regarding research on ancient Ireland and Irish mythology (ON TOP of the many, many other pages), and unfortunately when I finally got too lazy to keep working on the novel and put it down, I kept those tabs open for…what, years? At some point I had to accept I wasn’t going to use them again and just had to close them.

absolutely, i use the YouTube playlist feature for stuff like that, save to the play later playlist which i will never go back to and watch ever.

anything else that i think i might ever revisit gets a bookmark. if there is a site that i will revisit often it gets a bookmark with a keyword

youtube tabs during or after exploring a rabbithole

I hate those; I find one guy talking about the dark side of the internet, and next thing you know I got like five additional tabs open regarding the thing that video was about.
