“Hey kids, have you ever heard of Minecraft? How about YouTube?”This poster looks like a clickbait scam that would pop up on the side banner of a porn site.
Winning virtual wars is the only thing euro children can hope for!
LOL
“Fire Rises” is the unhinged modern day
hoi4 mod too, so we aren’t even dealing with simple paradox brainworms. I assume Gunter picked it out because he is actually IN the mod as a deranged liberal EU conqueror and i guess he latched onto it like the megalomaniacal bloodsucking euro politician that he is. Trying to meme himself into power.HOI4
Wrong Paradox game, make the kids play Victoria 3, we’ll have a whole generation of communists
Gunther is basically a nazi
Well yeah I don’t mean that he would want that I meant in general
Parents are desperately struggling to limit screen time to save whatever is left of their kids’ attention span while this clown touts this evil nonsense. Bleak times.
You know what’s wrong with kids these days? That’s right, not online enough
If I press the power button at the bottom does he turn off?
if you press most living things hard enough they turn off
oh god, HOI4 is bad for obvious reasons but the minecraft “education” edition is a disaster by itself.
Like it (might) not make little hitlerites, but its a cluster. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIfRSh_kX7Q for some of the problems.
TLDR:
Setting up an actual lesson using it, for the intended audience, is going to be a waste of time. Massive issues with the website being unhelpful (not properly sorting categories, confusing wording, unclear goals or instructions, and no indication they were given a test run).
The implementation in game is all over the place. Some decisions seem well intended (simplify stone into representing an average of Earth’s composition). But others are nonsense (copper was added later, only CERTAIN copper objects yield copper). Very little use of what could be explored in an interesting manner (geological formation for example). As the video says, it isn’t even a problem of minecraft being a fantasy representation. You could show a slice of a minecraft world; point out layers, talk about caves, etc. Then go into how its different then the real world. Ask questions like “Why would you make a game different?”. Talk about game/media design vs real life.
But nope. Its extremely lazy. It screams “slap this together so we can run news stories about it”. Weirdly there ARE some interesting aspects, like glowstone being “made up” of neon and other noble gasses. But who knows if some teacher would know that without sifting through the wiki.
It needs serious overhaulling before putting it before 10 year olds. It wouldn’t even be that hard of an overhaul but there is a 0% chance of it happening. You COULD do some interesting lessons or discussions with games like minecraft. But holy shit I’d be so mad if someone gave me this and I was expected to do minimal work to put it into a lesson. It’d be so easy to devolve into just playing a game or being downright confusing.
Even better - that’s a HoI4 mod, which includes such playable factions as atomwaffen division, patriot front, and the national socialist movement
hooray
I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:
Gunther just likes bordergore and wants to maximize hypothetical breakups of the ussr
I don’t think much mandating is necessary to get every child online by the age of 8
It’s only on there because he just lost a 7v1 HOI4 game to a Russian streamer
raising an army of map painters in fourth reich continuation project in ww2 game, that’s some shit
Can’t even hate man I love this shit
Oh the one hand, clown shit.
On the other hand, eh, better than Oregon Trail.
On the other hand, eh, better than Oregon Trail.
Fuck off, I loved that shit.
Since age 6 I have had a strong inclination towards backcountry fishing, foraging, and trading. The children yearn for the trails
