Above all else evangelicals want to feel good about their bigotry and use religion as a shield for said bigotry.

Yeah, seeing “I’m christian” is just white identitarianism a lot of the time. A lot of these people I see don’t go to church and are using being white as being moral vs. immigrants/foreigners.

I agree with Jordan from Knowledge Fight. At some point you gotta look these people in the face and say “bro I think you got tricked by the devil to worship him instead”

It’s kind of impressive how white evangelical Christians are on the wrong side of every social, political, or economic issue. They are incapable of even falling into a good position or two. But I guess that’s what happens your religion dialectically evolves to be nothing more than a vessel for white supremacy and settler colonialism - and also why the people most similar to white American evangelicals are Zionist Israelis…

I remember when christians in this country were like no to abortions, queer people and biotech but at least were midly positive to helping refugees and against eugenics. Now they aren’t even that positive to refugees in principle despite that being one of the clearest and most consistent points in the entire bible. Anti-empathy is also crazy. God is dead and they are worshipping manosphere podcast post-Nietzcshian-slop

As someone that works with these evangelical nuts, this is 100% accurate. Its genuinely wild to hear them do a reading from the bible about some moral lesson from Jesus and then talk about how the military needs to massacre all the muslims and immigrants. They’ll look down on other christians because they arent eager to murder minorities, prisoners, and trans people.

The absurd hipocracy has always irked me. Even as a kid i knew something was seriously off.

They worship the Real God of capital

What about the individual people who participate in this social practice? Surely their individual consciousness, their ideas, and their behaviour matter, and make a difference?

To a certain extent they do of course. But individuals come and go, but capitals live much longer than any individual human. The people controlled by the capital — that is the workers that supply labour to firms, and capitalists that exploit them and extract profits — are mere replaceable components in the control loop, mechanically performing prescribed functional roles.

For example, Marx writes in Capital, that:

“to classical economy, the proletarian is but a machine for the production of surplus-value; on the other hand, the capitalist is in its eyes only a machine for the conversion of this surplus-value into additional capital.”

We often say that a capitalist possesses capital. But it is more accurate to say that capital possesses them. Capitalists are the human face of an inhuman intelligence with its own logic and its own goals.

Not surprising. Empathy is an obstacle to a lot of things the Christian God commands.

Believe it or not Republicans have been talking about empathy being a weakness for some time now, in their churches and bro podcasts and blogs

Love thy neighbor as thyself, but only if thy neighbor goes to your church and isn’t something icky, like brown or gay.

I remember growing up around a church and just not getting it. I don’t understand the prayer, knowing that God is watching, and only getting your morality from the bible.

You know what I felt? Nothing. Bored. The blood pooling in my head as I draped myself off the bed in contemplation.

There is plenty that only makes sense in retrospect if you add a coefficient of hate and cynicism for others. I accept God’s love because I cannot accept that I am like these “people”. I love God because I hate the “sin” that surrounds them. If everything else about me is good, then maybe I could be accepted among the good people despite my skin color.

Framed with the proper context of contempt, I would have had a much easier time with the whole thing rather than trying to make a true believer out of me.

It’s telling that the groups that focus more on community instead of rage are more empathetic. White protestantism is a misanthropic death cult.

As someone who lives with her adoptive “”““mom””“” these people have full fledged personality disorders or something going on.

The only possible option is intense therapy, but even then that might not work.

These people are stubborn and selfish. They’re narcissists who don’t think they have issues.
