I can only assume they mean in the Talking Heads-iest sense of the phrase
Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowingunderoverground
Into the blue again after the money’s gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowingunderovergroundSame as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever wasAnybody else pissed off about the lack of concern or discussion about what’s happening to the Yucatan peninsula?
How bad is it there? I’m trying to find up to date videos, but all I’m seeing is moderately severe winds in Mérida and Cancun just seems a bit stormy.
Seems like it steered North enough to avoid anything catastrophic
It’ll still be bad for the costal regions, but avoiding landfall will hopefully cause the damage to be more limited. Even though that means Tampa is totally fucked now
I mean yes, but can you be suprised at this point?
Luckily comrade Milton and friends have saved their strength for the USInc. of A. Put into perspective, when the weather is actually severe, like Helene, the electricity and/or water may be turned off for a time to protect the infrastructure, that did not happen this time. Confirming that it was only a bit stormy for a few hours. Didn’t even notice it tbh. Hope Floridian comrades can stay safe.
if you are a decrepit boomer in Florida this very well could be the last one of your lifetime
“Once in a lifetime storm”
Isn’t like like the 3rd strongest in the last 20 years?
I remember a lot about Katrina and now it seems like that same part of the country is just going to get hit by hurricanes larger each month on a regular basis. Part of the problem with Katrina was government incompetence and not being ready for it. Not a lot has changed since then. I think they reinforced some sea walls?
I think the sea walls were actually a major cobtributing factor in Katrina. The main thing government does is coordinate evacuations, repair delivery infrastructure (like roads), and distribute resources. All of those are more difficult to do if the sea walls break and the damage is worse than forecasted.
this is fucking wild, it’s honestly same vibe as like an asteroid heading toward tampa
For a lot of people in Florida it is, unfortunately, going to be once in their lifetime
To paraphrase…when it comes to climat fuckery we will face there are weeks where lifetimes happen
Rapidly approaching the era of days where eons happen
Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was.
Same as it, ever was
“Once in a lifetime”
Not with the climate policy our rulers have chosen
Also life expectancy is getting shorter
Water flowing underground.
Until the next one in a week.
