I’ve been looking at lots of “travel to Cuba” posts on rednote. It’s incredibly sad. The Cuban economy is desperate for tourist dollars but has almost nothing to offer tourists except as a living museum on the effects of austerity. The netizens go there to see what China was like 30+ years ago to reflect on their own fortunate circumstances.

Thanks for providing that, I read through it, but don’t see anything that refutes the OP. Feels like she’s triangulating around Trump’s moods/what he’s currently paying attention to and she isn’t taking a permanent stance against helping Cuba

i would love to visit Cuba to meet Cuban people and eat Cuban food. i don’t know what trade between china and cuba is like, but i’m going to assume that china is wary of repeating the amerikkkan crisis over missiles near cuba.

The first thing I saw at the airport was some of the airport security equipment had signs saying that they were give to Cuba by China as a show of support
Country is beautiful, safe, people are nice. Lots of poverty yes but not the typical Western kind where you see homeless people dying on the street. People had places to live, education, healthcare, and lives, just very little material possessions and a lack of opportunities.
It’s amazing what they’ve achieved despite the blockade and it makes me legitimately furious when I imagine where they could be if the blockade hadn’t been a factor.

Mexico is not suicidal, if the US says no oil shipments to Cuba, there will be no oil shipments to Cuba. After the 2026 World Cup, expect more US pressure on Mexico and Canada.
