It’s worth noting for perspective that while games like CoD are horrifically racist, they are still less brazen and crass than this, and also have a high level of production value, institutional backing, and legacy. A shovelware Day of the Rope game like this would absolutely be removed from Steam before it got that many reviews and if by some satanic miracle it lasted a bit longer, it would probably not be able to sustain that high of a rating (also just because it’s shovelware).
The general population is too far to the right, but they aren’t channer culture warriors and many, many libs despise those people. I’ve seen lots of awful culture war or culture war-adjacent games and that’s basically always how it goes, they usually succeed only if they have something like mechanical appeal or not looking like dogshit to back them up.
I read through the reviews and even getting obviously propped up by people who think the actual game is shit and with no counter initiative, it is only able to maintain 94% positive, which is beneath the 95% threshold for “Overwhelmingly Positive” (and it would need 80× the current number of reviews, but it’s only able to maintain as positive a rating as it has because only freaks would buy it to begin with).
I will never consider an opportunity to dunk on CoD “spam”.
That wasn’t really my point, but fair enough, I hate that series too.
