Me:
- Open Hexbear dot net

- Check the main megathread
- Back to main page
- Check modlog for drama (why do I do this?!?!??)
- Never open the news thread (sorry 😔)
- go back to 1
No, I’m banned from every social platform because I tell landlords they deserve the guillotine when I see them gloating in threads. That pretty much settled my doomscroll addiction.
My habit is opening up Hexbear and posting random words

Saying piss and poo over and over isn’t random.
Get an infinite set of monkeys to type an infinite set of random letters, at least one of them’s gonna say piss and poo over and over
Like monkeys are real. smdh.
Prove it, i have an infinite set of monkeys in my garage but I’m seriously lacking in typewriters or word processors
Yes it is! you can’t prove it isn’t
I think you’ll find I have all the evidence I need at the bottom of this bathtub.
Check modlog for drama (why do I do this?!?!??
Ok, I’ve caught myself doing this but only during some truly dark periods lmao This is when you throw your phone out the window and read a book
I’m just generally bad about hopping between hexbear, reddit, and twitter. Bluesky sometimes, but that’s mainly just libs congratulating each other about how cool bluesky is.
Usually at some point I end up checking the news thread, get really depressed, and that stops the spiral.
Heaps of respect to the news threads peeps, but their convos are often intense af. Like:
poster 1: I can’t believe that Slovenia would import the F-21s
poster 2: No they were actually unporting F-23s [links 4 different sites to prove it]
poster 3: No you’re both wrong. Slovenia is just in your imagination. [links detailed Telegram thread which proves their point inconclusively.
poster 1: I am ashamed to call myself a leftist. I will deny myself food for 3 days as punishment.
poster 2: [deletes account to join a monastery]
Tagline material right there.
Damn, you’re kinda selling me on the news mega…
For somebody who claims not to read the news thread you’ve got the most accurate read on it
ADHD meds help me w this
But I am doing it now so
You reminded me to take my vyvanse thanks.
Half a year ago I turned off my YouTube view history, which severely hinders their algorithm and makes it a lot less efficient at making you watch endless trash. This has not done anything to stop my spiraling depression though
- GOTO 1.
I deleted TikTok from my phone. I go for a while without it and it’s not painful to stop, but when I have it I take forever to get up in the morning
1-5
I have never had a Twitter hahaha quiver before my might
News thread has a ton of posts to consume, you’re leaving slop on the table here.
So i do the hexbear loop until I’m convinced there’s nothing new to see and nobody replies to my comments, causing me to escape the loop with this process
-
Open the one idle game i have on my phone to buy upgrades
-
Open pokemon tcg live even though I know my phone will freeze during a match. Phone freezes during a match causing me to stop looking at my phone
-
Idk pretend to work for a bit until i get bored again
-
Recently I’ve taken to just idly browsing secondhand and auction sites to look at funny vintage clothes and the weird phrasings people come up with.
Lots of what I assume to be attempts at gaming search results by typing “BRAND NEW VINTAGE/ANTIQUE” in the title and shit like that.
Oh yeah i do this looking for deals on Pokemon cards because i accidentally fell into a side hustle
I’m curious about this, is it worthwhile?
Depends on your goals. I also play Pokemon in local tournaments so if i get dud packs it will usually have a usable trainer i can trade at the local store. I’d say 60% of my sold cards are from marketplace and 40% from being in the store every week.
That is to say, if you have a reliable way to connect to buyers (or you have the startup money to be able to grade cards), yeah it makes me a few extra hundred bucks a month on average.
It comes down to knowing what price lists people in your area are using and comparing the listings you see to those prices.
If you don’t already want Pokemon cards it might be a little more effort than it’s worth but hey.
If you steal packs go for Yu-Gi-Oh but if you buy them look at your local drug stores/walmarts/targets and see if they are selling “surging Sparks” booster packs for retail price. If they are, buy them all and either resell them for cash or crack them and gamble on the Pikachu lol
Awesome thank you!
I play casually (pokepocket and tcg mobile) and am connected to people who play competitive both locally and in JPN. I’m only recently interested in trading for profit because my brother suggested he’d buy some starter kits for his kids, and then put some cards aside as an investment. I said yeah sure go ahead but you need to know who to sell to, how to sell and when, so I’m looking into it on his behalf.
it will usually have a usable trainer
By this do you mean Trainer cards (like item/pkmn/stadium) card?
Also if i ever finessed anything you wouldn’t find me admitting to it here
Literally just buy low sell high in a highly liquid market
Does Grindr count as social media?
Uh, asking for a friend.
Don’t usually get bored, usually read a bunch of reactionary sites like to get my blood pressure going (its either that or caffeine) if I’m having a groggy slow morning and to figure out chud/lib trends since its a matter of time before I read something that makes me wide awake with . I like to read here or Lemmy when I can as a winding down sort deal.
