Still hitting the gym, just got back from a decent leg workout and hit some PR’s. I’ve been working on my diet lately, it’s been difficult to cook proper meals with my school/work/everything schedule so I’ve been eating garbage lately & want to change that. I’ve already cut out pop & really cut down on sugar in general but I need to work on cooking for myself more often instead of picking something up on the way home (either fast food or something premade at the local grocery store)
I just need a bit of time to sit down, make a meal plan, & put everything together but it seems like finding some time for that lately is difficult.
Had my lesson. Working on a bunch of new stuff.
Mostly interested in the bembe bell pattern stuff. That pattern with permutations in the right hand. I’ve doing a lot of 3:2 polyrhythm work lately.
I’m learning Tadd’s Delight and zooming in on Straight No Chaser.
Learning rhythm changes on the piano. Memorizing a bass line and the root movement. And then voice leading the third and seventh of each chord. I think this will be a digestable way for me.
I got 15 days until my Japan trip, I want to go to a jazz club I went to again and show off my growth. I am a lot better now than I was in August 2024.

I’ve always been really horrible at taking care of myself but recently I think I have improved a little bit. I’ve been reducing my soda pop consumption significantly. I now drink in a week what I used to drink in a day. Green tea of all things has been a really good substitute. I have also begun riding my bike to work instead of driving and even though it’s only a 15-20 minute ride I kind of think that I can feel that it’s good for me.
I’m still morbidly obese and my relationship to food and exercise is still really bad but at least I’ve made some steps in the right direction for the first time in ages.
biking in is sick.
now all you’ll hafta do, as that becomes too easy and to increase your gains, is continually move further and further away from work.
Try drinking diet soda and just force yourself to get used to the taste. you’ll ween yourself off the sugar taste. after awhile the amount of sugar will be gross to you.
This week I continued my reading and meditation streaks. I finished reading How Not to Age (certified banger) and started reading All Quiet on the Western Front (I’ve read 40 pages so far and it’s great). I also managed to go running on 3 days in a row.
Next week I want to continue my streaks and go running at least 2-3 times

ok moon, as i continue to cut down on animal product usage, what’s another easy or effective or novel actionable item i can execute to attempt to keep my youthful glow?
The TLDR of the book is that many of the known aging pathways can be influenced through lifestyle choices and especially nutrition:

By cutting down on meat and dairy, you’re already halfway there. The longest living populations on the planet are all plant-based.
Make sure to get plenty of:
- cruciferous vegetables (broccoli)
- dark leafy greens (kale, spinach)
- legumes (beans, soybeans, chickpea, lentils)
- whole grains (barley, brown rice, whole oat groats)
- berries containing anthocyanins (blueberries, blackberries)
- nuts and seeds (ground flaxseed, walnuts, almonds)
- herbs and spices (turmeric, ginger)
- green tea
These mothefuckers will literally add years to your life
