I need to figure out what’s next plus I might not be able to host the friday after this one
I had suggested Maison Ikkoku Apartment Fantasy (1986) and Nuummioq (2009) as movies that another blorper could show. I think it’s @Lemmygradwontallowme@hexbear.net who’s currently planning on showing them, so if you’re interested in showing them yourself (or getting Lemgra to take over for you next Friday) you should sort it out with him. @Redcuban1959@hexbear.net and @Camden28@hexbear.net also often take over for people, so you can ask them. I’d also found a YouTube playlist of subtitled Tigrigna/Eritrean movies but that’s maybe a bit too far outside your niche.
In the long term, if you want to stick with anime, then some suggestions might be…
- Dirty Pair — 80s girls with guns sci-fi anime. An episodic ecchi comedy with I’m told one of the best trans representations in anime. Many people recommend this to fans of Panty & Stocking and vice versa. Very popular!
- Lycoris Recoil — 20s girls with guns anime that I’m told is VERY gay. Also very popular! But also the shortest of these four suggestions.
- D4DJ First Mix — 20s slice of life anime about girls DJing. Notoriously gay and also notable for being fully CGI. This is the one I’m personally most excited for out of these four suggestions.
- Stop!! Hibari-kun! — 80s comedy anime with a transfem protagonist. Often considered one of the best if not the absolute best trans representation in anime.
Whatever you decide on, you might want to confirm with the others that nobody else is already planning on showing that series.
These are great suggestions! Dirty Pair and Stop!! Hibari-kun! have been on my list for awhile. I haven’t heard of the others but they sound good and I’ll check them out.
Some that I’ve been thinking about that I also wanted to get feedback on from anyone reading this. :
- She-Ra and the Princesses of Power - Heard great things about this one and was curious if anyone else recommends.
- Princess Jellyfish - A REALLY cute anime that has a crossdressing (possibly trans?) main character and is generally queer coded. Also has very transfem-adjacent themes about struggling with fitting in socially as a woman. This put a big crack in my egg when I watched back in the day and I love it so much, that…
- Punchline - This is about an anime about a highschooler who is separated from his body and has a ghost cat friend who is helping him return. He also has a major problem where if he sees panties twice, a giant meteor crashes into Earth and wipes out humanity. Has a trans main character and lots of interesting plot twists. As weird as the plot sounds, it all ends up making sense by the end of it.
- Zombie Land Saga - An anime about a group of dead girls brought back to life to form an all-zombie idol group. Also has a trans main character. Looks fun.
- Ranma 1/2 (the newer series) - I watched some of these awhile back and loved them, but didn’t finish watching for whatever reason. It’s a very fun and silly anime involving frequent gender switching. Curious if anyone else might like this.
I sort of have no idea and am open to suggestions or whatever others want to watch as well.
Dirty Pair has been requested a lot but we never got around to it. It looked really fun from what I saw of it. I’ll try pretty much anything though but I really want Daria to continue.
I know Cuban has mentioned a lot of things he’d like to show and Chapo has in the past too. I have all of Daria uploaded too if that helps, I think I got the download that restored all of the original songs from when it was airing.
Out of those, I’m most excited for She-Ra. I started that show yeeeeaaaars ago and never finished it, and it’s been so long that I have no idea where I left off, but I would like to come back to it. It definitely seems like your style.
I have seen all of the Ranma ½ reboot and I can attest that the whole thing rocks, and it has a great dub. I’m not sure if I’d join if you were to show it, though, since I already saw the whole thing so recently. But we’ll see. Likewise for Zombie Land Saga: I’ve seen parts of it, and it is awesome, but I was going to see the rest with somebody else, so I’m not sure if I’d join if you were to show it.
Punchline and Princess Jellyfish — I have no relationship to them, but I’ll take your word for it.
Oh, one more idea I had: Odd Taxi. It’s an anime about a Taxi Driver that turns into kind of a murder mystery? I don’t know too much about it but it received a lot of praise.

I really do think She-Ra is the best and most “on-brand” option.
Yeah it looks good and super gay. I was worried it would be too serious but watching some clips doesn’t seem that way.
We’ll probably watch Dirty Pair on Saturdays soon. It has been my on my to-show list for some time. No overlaps with anything else there, though.
