Rockstar hasnt added in the hand crafted animation of the character unsticking his underwear from his sweaty balls yet how can you judge it so soon. I for one am excited for grand theft southpark the 6th where the game will simulate each individual muscle fibre resulting in the stiffest clunkiest movement ever created and control handling will change if the character hasnt washed his butthole yet.

and then if you gently touch a physics object at a bad angle your car gets launched into space anyway

Here’s all the videos so far. They’re getting DMCAd so two are only on archive.org and I expect the third will be hit too so I’ll go ahead and use the archive link there too:

      First video: https://web.archive.org/web/20260818175624/https://streamable.com/0wdrc5

      Second video: https://web.archive.org/web/20260818175804/https://streamable.com/xeczw7

      The third video: https://web.archive.org/web/20260819135240/https://streamable.com/nmbqlk

      • when the guy gets road rage from getting into an accident with the player and brings a pipe wrench to try and brain the guy felt very lore accurate to florida.

the first pistol whipping in video 3 wasn’t very clean visually, but that’s a new sort of mechanic. kinda reminded me of rdr2, tbh. same with picking up the security guard’s hat and popping it on.

like im not gonna buy this game because fuck R* for their treatment of workers and anti-union shit, plus im sure it will be monetized out the ass with microtransactions, and theyll probably be huge a-holes about the PC port or ever letting it work on linux without full kernel access for their anti-cheat/surveillance monitoring.

but i gotta admit that seeing the little +2 improved focus ding for shooting hoops in the front yard would be all id need to max out my focus (whatever it is) before even doing a single mission. as soon as the gym opened up in GTA:SA i stopped doing everything else until my dude was jacked to the max. both so my punches were lethal and because it made me look disturbing in the cutscenes. used to crack me up when tenpenny or his partner would poke my completely yoked chest and talk down to me despite my guy looking like a completely juiced meat head that could suplex a fridge. the muscle/body stuff and the changeable fighting style mechanic were sorely missed by me.

in GTA:V i maxed out my “special ability” immediately for michael by obsessively doing yoga in the backyard lol.

i love all that stupid side shit for stats and weird cosmetic crap.

i thought they already had the pistol whipping in GTA V (it also existed since gta 3 but no one used because it fucking sucked iirc).

Lets not forget the ceo guys at rockstar were close buddies with Epstein.

          • i thought they already had the pistol whipping in GTA V

they did, but it was like… less dramatic than this? it was more of a quick stun, like afterthought melee when you were armed and the target was up close. just a quick overhand klonk on the dome. this looked like an intentional animation with a camera angle change and like honestly more violent because it’s like you’re smashing the target in the face from the side. the pistol whip in V wasn’t like the other melee weapon moves in GTAV where if you were the right distance or approaching from behind it did like a 1 shot kill animation.

i was kind of obsessed with finding all the kill strikes for all the melee weapons. the machete was pretty dirty as were the small knives, like the switch blade which had its own fun little deploy/put away animation.

Second video has NPCs get out of their car if you hit them and try to ram into you. I’m feeling weirded out by the level of realism they’re going for and whether it’s a good idea. They might push the “realism” thing in the trailers.

It seems like the driving is a cross between V and IV. The impact shake seems very amateurish though like it came from a gta clone.

The UI seems very half baked compared to IV and V so this maybe this is just a debug build considering in most free roam states in GTA you almost always have mission markers on your map.

That happens in GTAV/O too. NPCs have a chance to have a road rage reaction rather than a panic one and can try to ram and attack the player or (IIRC) even other NPCs that hit them.

GTA 6 is a retro revival of the series now, GTA has been without a new release for longer than Mega Man was when Mega Man 9 came out. Same time gap between sequels as Prince of Persia. Wii games were still releasing when GTA 5 came out. Also GTA was never good.

I was talking to someone about the time gap and the overall timeline of GTA games a couple months ago, and pointed out that the length of time between GTA 5 and GTA 6 has been the same amount of time and longer than the time between the first and last entries in the entire series before GTA V:

I’m confused by the Mega Man comparison: if you mean between 8 and 9 (12 years) there were so many entries in the other series (especially Battle Network) that I don’t think it qualifies. It’s not like there was a parallel GTA series the past 13 years.

Otherwise the gap between 10 and 11 was 8 years, between 11 and the new game next year will have been 9 years.

I mean between Rockman & Forte and Rockman 9, a decade, less if you count the GBA version :) and yeah other Mega Man series did go on in that time, but people still crowed for a new classic Mega Man.

Also to be fair, most of the subseries had run their course by that point. ZX Advent in 2007, Star Force 3 in 2008. I do note how long it takes for new megaman games to come out though! Megaman once a decade!

Much has been written about Inafune’s departure as a cause, but somewhere I heard an interesting fact that around that time, Capcom was also changing how new entries were approved.

Mega Man was never big sales-wise. Only Mega Man 11 has exceeded 2 million copies after a steady trickle over 7 years; the number of games that exceeded 1M is in the single digits. But the games were cheap to make so they still achieved high ROIs, which at the time was enough to greenlight a sequel, but then they started prioritising total sales volume.

Star Force 2 and 3 sold less than half of what the latter Battle Network games achieved, ZX didn’t catch on and if you look at reviews of the time, critics were sick of what they saw as cheap, samey sequels flooding the market with outdated gameplay.

Now Capcom wants to harness more “core IPs” and keep them relevant by interspersing occasional new games with rereleases of older games and cameos in other games (Mega Man is in Fortnite now). That way they hope to prevent either absolute silence or “oversaturation”.

I know this thread is about GTA but c’mon, look at my pfp.

Y’know, the sales thing gets me. When the famicom was current, the ~2m sales that Mega Man 2 made were very big numbers. The series just kinda got outclassed by Capcom’s later hits like Street Fighter II, (12m units on home platforms alone by 1994) Resident Evil, (over 5m on PS1 alone, game also had PC and Saturn ports) and Monster Hunter. (PSP entries selling 1-4m units per entry, World selling 30m units) Idk why Mega Man never hit it massive though. Difficulty? Seems weird, but the clamoring for Megaman online is always way louder than the sales let on…

Star Force 2 and 3 sold less than half of what the latter Battle Network games achieved, ZX didn’t catch on and if you look at reviews of the time, critics were sick of what they saw as cheap, samey sequels flooding the market with outdated gameplay.

This is nasty as hell to me. I know they made like eight or nine RPGs in as many years between Battle Network and Star Force, but tbh I’ve always thought the MM seeies broadly was really versatile. Also “outdated” is so silly.

Sure would be nice to see them do that Mega Man X9 they teased in the X Legacy Collection… or a new Legends 3 Idk…

Also na this is a Mega Man General Megathread now screm-cool

Looks ok? Unreal slop has TAA smudgey blur on literally everything especially plants and I’m not seeing that here. The image is sharp even in movement, there is a motion blur effect but that’s gonna be something you can turn off in a PC version.

It looks like Red Dead 2, except not the wild west, and the colour is kinda washed out? Not a fan of that washed out colour filter look but I guess they’re going for a specific vibe that might not come through in a couple of clips.

UI is usually one of the last things to be completed because everything that provides information for the UI needs to be final first or you waste a lot of work making ui for shit that gets cut or changed.

that said, as an HD era hater, i fully expect to not like the driving, shooting, on-foot movement, interface, and writing in the final product.

  • I can’t imagine being one of these people who are so hyped up, thinking this shit is going to be the most detailed and realistic game ever, only to boot up the game and the first mission is driving a rusty El Camino to pick up an NPC. Then a 30 min cut scene of some character who’s entire shtick is that they talk loud and say the satirical things with a huge elbow to your forehead. Driving, not being able to enjoy the 15 years of detail and ambiance because two characters are doing bad “and then…” together for the entire ride.

Also all the monetization is going to be appalling. In-game stores locked behind irl money. Clothes, accessories, cars, colors, character customization, probably player homes. All going to be hundreds of dollars on top of a $100 base game.

I have been hating on this game for years at this point. All my g**** friends telling me they’re buying it, it can’t be bad etc and I feel so vindicated from the last like 6 months when people finally started to realize they’re going to pay 100 bucks for updated graphics on the same fucking game as GTA V. Fuck this game, I will never buy this garbage.

I still like GTA SA/Vice because of their more “arcade-like” and less realistic more videogaming vibe, but yeah, they’re pretty dated. You’re basically just a driver who listens to the passengers dialogue, without needing to animate cutscenes, and the gunfight are pretty whatever.

It’s from 2025 at the earliest, maybe very late 2024. The song that’s playing on the radio apparently was recorded in 2024 and released in 2025, which gives a solid boundary of how far back it could be from.

The 2023 thing came from the version of the screencapture software used for it, I believe.

Seems more RPG-like open world slop from Ubislop.
