The number of SS wasn’t high enough for them to round up every undesirable on their own, it required the participation of civilians and local law enforcement. They were more than happy to kill their neighbors because it meant they got to take their stuff for themselves.

We have a bunch of photos of Axis troops committing war crimes they took of themselves. Ranging from burying people in mass graves, posing with dead bodies, beheading contests, standing in front of prison camps, and literally killing infants.
